It's ALIVE!

The bog is alive! I'm trying to revive it this week. As I tell myself daily- be patient.  The three of us are busy having fun.... ;-)

Fast Metabolism Diet

Seven days ago I started following Haylie Pomroy's Fast Metabolism Diet guidelines. I became interested in it thanks to Landyn Hutchinson's Living with Landyn Facebook page and after reading about it on my own, was interested in how it could benefit be nutritionally, not so much in losing weight. I first bought the app for my phone to help me choose foods and have the information literally in my hand at all times. If you are interested in this program and have a smart phone, I would highly recommend the app. I tried this for the first time in September but was way overwhelmed by the food to buy, when to eat, how much, etc so it didn't last. This time I made my meal maps (basically inputting what I would eat for each meal that week) and headed to the grocery store. For me, I was able to choose all foods my family already eats. The week is broken into three phases, Phase 1 is the first two days. This part is great, whole grains, fruit- no problem. Phase 2 is the next two-...

Attack of the late night munchies

Last night I was forced to eat handful after handful of Chicago mix popcorn... :-) so the day wasn't totally healthy. But it could have been worse...the ice cream was also calling my name. Today skipped getting up at 4:45 in exchange for a few more hours sleep and a home workout. 30 minutes cardio Squats Lunges Abs Food: Coffee 1 egg, egg whites of two eggs with salsa 24oz water Banana and homemade protein bar mid morning Typical lunch of large kale salad with tuna 24oz water Afternoon snack was homemade protein bar Dinner also to be determined.... Will update later but will likely be chicken, green veggie ( the boys will get some kind of pasta or bread with it as we'll and fruit) Update- pulled BBQ chicken sandwiches Also trying out adding lemon to my water. I don't like the idea of adding enamel eroding acid to my water, but I recently read how much good lemon can do for your liver... I need to read more on that though. It's freezing here to...

To making it a great year everyday

Happy New Year!  I'm all about making goals and setting deadlines to accomplish them so in the spirit of a new year I'm listing a few things I'll be working on over the course of 2014. 1. Worry less- I can create unnecessary anxiety for myself and take out my worry in the form of frustration 2. Be proud of my progress- when I was pregnant I photographed my progress (growth) each week. But when it come to gaining muscle and losing fat I am totally scared to document it because it is so much harder to see results. This fall I actually noticed the muscle that had suddenly appeared on my arms. I had wished that I had a pictured from a year prior when I had seriously started weight training to compare. 3. BLOG 4. Be more organized- meal planning specifically. I want to plan out our week to help cut down on the multiple trips to the grocery store 5. Make my own money- I want to find a way to make myself some "extra" money. To start things off, I'm starting w...

My mind wanders

It is nearing a month since my last posting. I'll be honest, I feel like I have nothing blog worthy as of late and the things I would like to write about I'm not sure there is an audience for.  So, I'm making a random list of stuff on my mind... I have a feeling that I have WAY more Christmas shopping left to do than I realize Am I the only one who has noticed the gym is getting busier...thankfully I bet that come mid-January it will be quite again at 5am I have given up the can of diet soda I used to have every afternoon as the "treat" to myself. Still deciding if the coffee I've replaced it with is any better Watching the lighting of the tree at Rockefeller Center makes me want to visit New York in December I would really love to spend a day like this:  coffee with a good friend, having my nails done (I cannot remember the last time this happened), book store, lunch with the girls, shopping, happy hour and dinner out somewhere with dark li...

Hot Moms

Hello! It's been nearly two months since my last post and the only thing I can blame that on is myself! The "free" time I've been finding has been filled with work for the local pageant I co-direct (www.misssouthernvalley.weebly.com) and now birthday prep for Cooper. BUT reading an article that peaked my interest, I wanted to write a little something myself about the topic. Maria Kang is "just" another mom who works as a business owner, is a wife raising three young boys and likes to give herself, and really her family, something by working out and leading a healthy lifestyle. I first saw Maria's now very viral photo about a year ago in a fitness article about moms getting their post-baby bodies back. I really didn't bat an eyelash because I am interested in fitness and read SO many of these incredible stories. For one reason or another, a year after first posting this photo it is now generating alot of interest and bringing out the good and the ugl...

Who Has Time for a Manicure?!

Image
I can count on one hand the number of manicures/pedicures I've had since having the boys. This isn't for lack of wanting to have my nails look beautiful, but more for a few other reasons: 1. I feel guilty taking an hour for my nails 2. What I would spend on being pampered could be spent on alot of other things 3. I couldn't relax anyway- my mind would be going over all of the things that I "should" be doing at home or what I could be getting done at home instead. Then, a few weeks ago, I met my cousin James' wife Julia and she changed my life... :) well, the life of my nails that is. Meet Jamberry Nails ! Gone are the days of nails that chip and flake after only a few days! Gone are the days of mani/pedis that take all afternoon and most of your cash, too! Jamberry Nails arm you with style and confidence, while demanding very little of your time or money.  Yep- these nails shields are your ticket to fabulous nails! Now, if you are like me ...
