4th of July weekend

This 4th of July weekend Kevin and I headed to Lake Park to see my family and to attend my good friend Vanessa's wedding. We were able to get out on the lake a few times, including watching fireworks out on the lake (thanks to my aunt and uncle Tom & Sue- thank you!!) THAT is the way to see fireworks- right beneath them. We also headed out Sunday to enjoy the beautiful day on the lake. We packed lunches, drinks and hit the water.
The weekend was way too short- she kept saying how much we wished Sunday was only Saturday so we could stay out longer. But of course we needed to come back to reality- which really meant sitting in traffic. Kevin and I decided that rather than sit in one spot we would take the closest exit and find out way home that way. And I'm so glad we did! Along our way we found a great Mexican restaurant- Rancho Grande. We had a delicious meal and got back on our way. We finally made it home, unpacked and collapsed! Ready to start another week.

How very appropriate on this Cinco de Mayo that today marks 16 weeks, making the baby about the size of an avocado! Measuring about 4" to 5" and weighing about 3.5 ounces. This week the baby's tiny ears are developing enough to hear my voice. Eyelashes, eyebrows and are are starting to fill in and taste buds are forming. Apparently something that also goes along with being 4 months pregnant is congestion. This along with my already nagging allergies has made for some very itchy eye mornings and pressured induced headaches. Small price to pay I know.

Orange you glad there's a baby in there?

15 weeks!! It is hard to believe that we are nearly four months into this journey. Time is flying but Kevin and I both are still pretty calm about the enormous change that is coming this fall. Maybe the excitement is masking the nervousness of it all. Yesterday I wrote that I had to break out the BellaBand, well today my pants fit so we're not to the point of no return yet. Being in my second trimester though I'm anticipating the weight to start adding up. On average women gain about a pound a week during this time. When I told that to Kevin he didn't seem to impressed. Then I gave him a visual- picture one pound of hamburger meat being added to your body every week. "Well when you put it that way." As of this morning I've lost a half pound putting me at a weight gain of 6.5 pounds in these (nearly) four months. Baby is still teeny tiny: About 4 inches long and about 2 1/2 ounces. I Just Want You To Know

My husband thinks it is sickening but....I really like Kate Gosselin. I have from the time I first watched Jon and Kate Plus 8 - yes even when she would yell at Jon and get short with the kids. Instead of seeing a nagging, over bearing wife and mom I saw a woman who was overworked, exhausted and really doing her best to keep it together. Someone who also felt like unless she was totally in control, things would fall apart. Now more than ever (since her less than stellar husband flew the coop; seriously- have you seen his latest faux hawk that he is sporting??) I think she is really an inspiration. She works hard, just because it's an unconventional job doesn't mean it's not work, she loves her kids and she is providing for them as best as she can. So when her latest book, I Just Want You To Know , was published I was quick to purchase and read it.
