VEGAS

Kevin and I made our now annual voyage to Vegas for a long weekend of relaxation and the Miss America pageant. It was an even better trip than last year, minus one painful migraine.

Our adventure started at the airport where were interviewed by the Star Tribune! They took pictures of us checking in and then asked us some questions about why we fly SunCountry and what we thought about Southwest coming to the Twin Cities. Next we ran into John from Twin Cities Live who was also traveling to Vegas. We had the opportunity to meet him when Kevin was "competing" for MN's Hottest Hubby contest. He is a very friendly guy who was also on our flight home on Sunday.

We stayed at Planet Hollywood again and coincidentally were placed in the Mighty Ducks themed room. We had a beautiful view of the strip, the Bellagio water show and the mountains, my favorite part.

Thursday night we walked down to the Mirage to see the Cirque de Soleil show LOVE featuring songs from the Beatles. The show was amazing! Such talented artists in that show, really worth the ticket price.

Friday we woke up and hit the strip- no real destination in mind. We walked a ton this day and ended it with a delicious dinner with several of the other MN "fans" there for the pageant and watching the final night of the Miss America reality show "Countdown to the Crown."

Saturday was pageant day. But first we went out again to see the other end of the strip, New York, New York, The Luxor and soaking up the warm sunshine. Late that afternoon we got dressed up and walked downstairs to the Planet Hollywood theatre. It is fun to see a live production come together so smoothly. Our Miss MN Angie McDermott was beautiful. By the end of the night Miss Indiana was crowned Miss America, she is a beautiful girl who I think will be a great representative.

The only downer of the entire trip was the migraine that got me during the pageant. I had to leave the reception early to lay down. After a quick nap we got in a cab and headed for Freemont Street. We found something to eat to try to help my head and a $3 Blackjack table. Our dealer Judy was so great.

After a couple pretty successful hours of gambling we walked to McDonald's for a late night/early morning meal, grabbed a cab and finally hit the sheets at about 3am.

Sunday it was kind of hard to leave. We packed our things and took some more time to just enjoy Vegas- stopping to see another water show at the Bellagio and then went to the airport to come back to the tundra.

What a great trip! We really had such a great time in Vegas- great food, shows, people watching, friends, all wrapped into one. We couldn't ask for more!
