Growing up

Image
In just about one month Cooper will be 2 years old. It is hard to believe it! Kevin and I talk about how wonderful and at the same time, how sad it is that he is no longer our baby. As he was running around the house a few nights ago we looked at each other and were amazed when we realized a year ago he wasn't even walking yet. This and That Will at random times look at me and say "Mommy toot!" (for the record Kevin taught him this) Says he is daddy's little stinker and mommy's honey Tells us he is going to be 2 (sometimes that is going to be 2 hours....not sure why) and that what he wants for his birthday is monies (I'll let  you guess who taught him that) He loves walking like a penguin- which means stamping his feet up and down quickly What he calls his grandpas- Grandpa Dougie (my dad) and Pa Bob (Kevin's dad) Hides in the pillows on the couch and yells- mommy hind you! (which I think means- mommy I'm hiding from you!) Wakes up some mornin

Labor Day weekend

Image
Every year for the past 7 years my family has spent Labor Day weekend at a cabin together. My mom started this tradition and we have happily continued it. I think it is a weekend we all look forward to. I feel especially lucky that we get together every year on this weekend because my birthday is always celebrated! What a better way to celebrate another year than being with everyone I love. This year our group included: Kevin and Cooper (of course), my dad and sister, my brother Mike, sister in-law Delayne and my nephew Alex (Big Al), my brother Nick and Melissa, and last but not least, Kevin's parents. We spent our 5 days grilling, boating, playing at the park and in the sand, biking, cooking and almost burning the cabin down.... whomever rented the cabin before us decided it was a good idea to leave a bag of pre-popped popcorn in the oven. First- who puts popcorn in the oven? Second, who puts pre-popped popcorn in a bag in the oven?! When Nick went to pre-heat the oven for dinner

State Fair!

Cooper's first visit to the Minnesots State Fair was a success! We arrived at 9:30am and departed at 6:30pm. I think he is used to the idea that his parents don't sit still! Our first stop at the fair was at the Miracle of Life Building where we saw baby cows, sheep and pigs. Next we were off to the Dairy Barn. Cooper loved the cows. It amazes me how the animals' owners just let people touch their cows! The cows don't seem to mind and in fact, pretty much ignored us. The Giant Slide was probably Cooper's favorite part of the day. Kevin and I each took him down it twice and that wasn't even enough! We were able to get some fun video of the sliding too! The next ride was the Ferris Wheel. Cooper loved being up so high and seeing the people down below us. It seems he will be a rollercoaster lover like Kevin and I. One attraction we all loved was the Great Sing-A-Long!
