Week 39




Here we are well into week 39. :) Today brings another visit to the doctor to see if I've progressed anymore and to double check that I'm ok to travel for the wedding this weekend. Last week she said I'd be fine, "You'd get back in time." So today we will check again. Since Kevin is the best man it would be nice if we could have the baby anytime after Saturday. But we realize we aren't really in control of that yet.....


At my last appointment my doctor said that if I didn't have the baby by my due date, Tuesday, she'd set a date to induce for that same week. So it looks like nature or doctor will have the baby here by about next week at this time.


Because life is going to be changing I thought it would be nice for Anglica and I to spend some time just the two of us hanging out doing girl stuff. We spent last weekend having lunch at the American Girl Doll store, running around the Mall of America, shopping, carving pumpkins, baking... you name it. And to top it all off Sunday night we went to the Taylor Swift concert! She was so very excited for this, as was I. We were lucky enough to also have with us our sister in law Delayne, her sister and her nieces. It was a great weekend!

fabulous. just remember - from here on out your idea of "control" will HAVE to drastically change.

Oh, and that beautiful little birth plan that you have set up.... I know you do (I had one with Keegan) rip it up now. The candle made me sick, the music was annoying, the idea of sitting in water made my skin prick, and James being by my side hurt. Just take things as they come and keep focused on the end result.

How very appropriate on this Cinco de Mayo that today marks 16 weeks, making the baby about the size of an avocado! Measuring about 4" to 5" and weighing about 3.5 ounces. This week the baby's tiny ears are developing enough to hear my voice. Eyelashes, eyebrows and are are starting to fill in and taste buds are forming. Apparently something that also goes along with being 4 months pregnant is congestion. This along with my already nagging allergies has made for some very itchy eye mornings and pressured induced headaches. Small price to pay I know.

Starting to feel like a Bloomin' Onion

17 weeks! Whew! It's going so quickly. Today we sent our registration for parenting and birthing classes at the hospital where the baby will be born. There's only one spot left for the class we want, so we're keeping our fingers crossed that we get in. I think it will be very interesting to see what they teach and talk about during these classes. I just feel like I can't possibly learn enough about everything going on. Here's an update on baby's growth: Five inches long and more than three and a half ounces...about the size of an onion. The baby can now even hear what's going! Loud noises like a dog barking, doorbell ringing will actually startle the baby. The babies are are getting strong enough to perceive some light and the baby is busy learning to suck on swallow. Orange you glad there's a baby in there?

15 weeks!! It is hard to believe that we are nearly four months into this journey. Time is flying but Kevin and I both are still pretty calm about the enormous change that is coming this fall. Maybe the excitement is masking the nervousness of it all. Yesterday I wrote that I had to break out the BellaBand, well today my pants fit so we're not to the point of no return yet. Being in my second trimester though I'm anticipating the weight to start adding up. On average women gain about a pound a week during this time. When I told that to Kevin he didn't seem to impressed. Then I gave him a visual- picture one pound of hamburger meat being added to your body every week. "Well when you put it that way." As of this morning I've lost a half pound putting me at a weight gain of 6.5 pounds in these (nearly) four months. Baby is still teeny tiny: About 4 inches long and about 2 1/2 ounces.
